DENTAL CROWNS
--
When you need a crown, your damaged tooth is usually reshaped to become an anchor for a replacement tooth. Here are 8 common reasons one might need a crown:
1. To cover and protect a tooth that has been weakened, usually due to decay.
2. To stabilize sections of a cracked tooth.
3. For broken tooth repair.
4. To repair a tooth that has been severely worn down.
5. To cover and strengthen a tooth where there is a large filling and very little tooth structure remaining.
6. To reinforce a tooth that has had a root canal.
7. To anchor a dental bridge in place.
8. To repair misshaped or severely discolored teeth.

"I had a good experience . .....I was thinking about my old dental assistant who massaged my gums at the end and was pleasantly surprised when it happened today. I forgot to tell her thank you ! But I didn't get to see Dr. Jackson today . "

DESPITE STAINING, COFFEE STRENGTHENS TEETH
(yay coffee!)
--
There’s good news for people who need their morning cup of coffee to get through their day. In addition to other health benefits like protecting the liver; boosting metabolism; and reducing the risks of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, coffee may help teeth by preventing bone loss in the jaw, according to the AGD (Academy of General Dentistry). Plus, green coffee’s antibacterial properties may help protect the gums.
THE SCIENCE:
Some of coffee’s benefits accrue while it is being roasted, said Nasir Bashirelahi, PhD, professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Its high chlorogenic acid content has antioxidant properties. Also, its polyphenols can prevent cancer and other diseases. It reduces the bad bacteria in the oral microbiome as well.
