WNS faculty and staff had a wonderful Workshop with Derrick Gay as part of their Professional Development week.  The WNS Inclusivity Task Force has been formed and will begin work on establishing and realizing goals to develop and support a more inclusive community.  We are looking forward to working together!

"It’s not just the students that are learning at Williamsburg Northside. I find that every year as a teacher I learn at least as much as the kids do. On Friday, May 8th, all faculty members at WNS had the opportunity to go to another school in New York City and learn about the teaching and learning that takes place at other schools. Teachers from WNS were spread out throughout the entire city. I was very excited about this because observing teachers in a completely different environment can give you a whole new perspective about how to interact with kids, and how to teach in different ways. I spent the morning at the Little Red School House in Manhattan. There has only been one other time in my career I have had an opportunity like this, and it was definitely eye opening. After our visit to other schools, we were able to take one last look at the Wonder of Learning exhibit on the 7th and 8th floors. We will be sad to see it go, but we’ve taken advantage of it as a school as much as we could." - Matthew Cole - Grade 4 Head Teacher #Elementary #Education

Second graders in the Lower School took a field trip to the Top of the Rock observatory deck to connect their study of boroughs of New York City; mapping and landmarks. Using the compass and cardinal directions at Top of the Rock , they found the landmarks discussed during classroom investigations. Thank you Daria Rivera for these wonderful images!http://bit.ly/1JUidHJ
