Reading Hospital and Acadia Healthcare announced a joint venture partnership to provide behavioral health services to Berks and the surrounding counties, including the construction of a new 144-bed inpatient facility.

"We have an urgent need for additional behavioral health resources in our community," said Clint Matthews, President and CEO of Tower Health and Reading Hospital. "Acadia Healthcare offers extensive national experience in behavioral healthcare with a demonstrated standard of excellence in the treatment of behavioral health and addiction disorders. Together, with Reading Hospital's demonstrated high quality care, this collaboration will address a very critical community health need."

Reading Hospital's Community Health Department, supported by the Community Benefit Committee of Reading Hospital's Board of Directors, is launching the "Be Well Berks" Grant Program - an initiative designed to simultaneously fund community health projects and enhance collaboration among local nonprofit grant winners and Reading Hospital.

The purpose of the "Be Well Berks" Grant Program is to address the priorities identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment: Obesity, Access to Care, Addiction and Mental Health.

The Sleep Apnea Support Group at Reading Hospital provides educational and group support to individuals with sleep apnea and snoring problems, and to patients on CPAP therapy. SAVE THE DATE, Sunday, February 11, for our Heart to Heart event, a fun and informative afternoon about heart health. This annual event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Reading Hotel from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes educational exhibits, great food, chocolate and wine!

You will have an opportunity to interact with a panel of Reading Hospital physicians who will discuss advances in cardiac care, steps you can take to become heart healthy and answer questions. New this year: Hands only CPR/AED training and a live simulated cardiac event to showcase lifesaving care that begins when you call 9-1-1.
