If i could give this place a 0 i would. Worst service i have ever had. The guy took 20 mins to take our drink order. He had to ask 3 times what we ordered but didn't want to write it down either time. They then gave away our food to another table, brought us the food of the table they gave our original food to. It wasn't even the same order! When i asked about it he said it would be another 15 min wait on top of almost the hr I had already waited. I heard its worth the wait but really? All this when there is not even a wait outside? Not worth the trip out of the city for us!

I love this location. The St. Charles location has horrible service. I know it takes 15 mins to cook chicken. We order our food for lunch ahead of time because we are on time restraint, they do not start cooking your food until you get there. Which is another 20 min wait. Please stick to to St. Ann location.

Being from New Orleans out the 9thward born n raised but livin in Dallas this place has definitely one of the best restaurants in the city. The wait is worth it. Everytime I come home to New Orleans I have to stop here...Dallas, Tx just dosent have good food NO place like home

The most amazing fried chicken I have ever tasted. I will travel back to New Orleans someday, just to get to Willie Mae's again. Waited almost 30 minutes to get in. Enjoyed pleasant conversation with others who were also waiting. It was worth every minute, and then some.

Had lunch here a few days ago. Ordered the fried chicken with green beans and rice with gravy as the side. The food wasn't bad but also not great either. But good for the price. Well, maybe. Knock it down a couple dollars and price would match food quality. I felt the batter on the chicken was way over fried. Like it had been dipped in the oil twice for cooking. Some of the chicken was a bit over fried. The side dish of green beans with rice. Was okay. Definitely canned green beans. However, I really like green beans. Rice is a staple here and yet, poorly made. Overall, eating at Willie Mays was a decent experience. Food wasn't bad overall. Glad I've tried this place once while living in Nola.

I'm on vacation in NOLA and what am I doing? I'm standing on a street corner in the hot sun waiting in line for fried chicken. But not just any fried chicken, supposedly the BEST fried chicken in the US at James Beard award winner Willie Mae's. After a 30 minute wait, we were finally seated inside at a table. In order to expedite the process, we were ready with our complete order the moment the waiter arrived. The chicken arrived hot, crispy and juicy. They use a wet batter at Willie Mae's and fry it up to perfection. The cornbread was better than the rolls. They sides were all delicious, but the butter beans were a bit on the salty side. We ate every morsel of that chicken and it was definitely finger licking good!

The absolute best fried chicken on the planet. I and my wife had seen the restaurant on TV and had to give it a try. We had to wait for about 45 minutes to get a table. Not complaining, just fact. The chicken is that good. It's worth the wait.

In Treme, a historic African-American neighborhood that still shows signs of destruction from Katrina, this place is WONDERFUL. A bit shabby at the seams, but comfortable and the best fried chicken, especially now that Chez Helene is gone. Don't pay attention to the dis reviews. Yeah, you may have to wait awhile but the line moves fast. Terrific red beans and rice too. This is authentic Nu Awlunz, off the beaten path, away from the garishness and clutter of the Quarter.
