Managed to see Kebu from Finland for his first London gig last night, fantastic set with excellent VJing. We also managed to catch him outside for a cheeky photo.

Very impressed with his synth setup: DSI Tetra, Roland Juno 60/ Alpha Juno / Alpha Juno 2/ JX8P / JDXA, Korg Polysix/ Poly 61 and an Alesis Andromeda. I also spotted an Oberheim Matrix 1000 and Airbase 99 in his rack; a very expensive setup to be carting around!

Synth spotting time. My dad sent me this photo of a client he visited at some point and I only just found it in my email again. GAS much?

Okay, so it's not a Korg, but it IS a recent Gumtree that's worth sharing: a Roland JV 1080 digital rack synth. Each patch consists of up to four separate timbres (each with its own sample/LFOs/filter/amp) and has some fairly capable reverb and chorus effects to boot. What this thing seems ace for is wide pads with lots of character and seems fairly straightforward to program too. But the icing on the cake: I found that it has the Vintage Synth expansion board installed with some more lovely string and pad sounds.

Just got these two bad boys home - a bit overkill but the Rhythm Wolf was a steal at £50 from Gumtree. I've had the DrumBrute on preorder since it was announced so I'm pleased to finally get that home. On to a fun Saturday night of hardware playing
