Jim Motes is the Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer at Rockwell Automation responsible for global information security strategy, policy and programs. Jim works closely with corporate risk, physical security, legal and employee safety to streamline field assessment processes, collaborate on overlapping areas of discipline and reduce impact on productivity while improving the overall corporate risk posture. Prior to his current position, Jim held positions as VP, Information Security, Invensys PLC, the Chief Information Security Officer at Perot Systems Corporation and Director, Information Security Engineering and Operations at Affiliated Computer Services. Jim’s responsibilities at those two companies involved not only creating internal security programs and controls, but also building and expanding security services capabilities to support the security needs of client companies ranging from medium size to Fortune 100 companies. Jim’s experience in over a decade of security service outsourcing has provided him a unique perspective into the common cyber security issues affecting corporations today.
Jim has supervised and been personally involved in numerous forensic investigations pertaining to cyber incidents and crimes ranging from employee misconduct to activities linked with international criminal organizations. He serves on the National Governance Board as for the United Stated Public and Partnership Program (USP3), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the threat response and infrastructure protection capability of law enforcement and private industry. Jim holds multiple security certifications and is also a licensed private investigator in the state of Texas. Jim has over 15 years of experience in Information Security.
