Looking for peace among the peaks? This might be the trip for you.
This past March, I flew to the island of Senja, Norway, to take part in one of the many self-powered backcountry programs offered by Pure Ski Touring. The island is part of a 612-square-mile archipelago that sits in one of the northernmost, least-populated counties in Norway.

There’s a great deal of work behind engineering the perfect camp fork.
Six months, two trips to Thailand, and flirtations with madness have produced possibly the most forgettable fork ever.

“Before venturing out this winter, you should educate yourself on how to properly read wintertime terrain, as well as understand the risks associated with traveling through it.”

Head to our blog for tips on safe snowshoe travel this winter. #AccessWinter
Snowshoeing is the wintertime equivalent to summer’s hiking, right? Or is it? Heading out onto your favorite trail with snowshoes on your feet may seem like a good idea, but avalanche conditions may not warrant safe travel.

“I get asked it all the time. Which is my favorite MSR stove and why? Unfortunately, the answer is not so simple. Which stove I choose for each trip generally depends on where I’m going and what I’m doing.”

Head to our blog for Polar Explorer Eric Larsen’s advice on what stove you should bring on your next adventure.
Polar Explorer Eric Larsen explains why he chooses one stove over another for each adventure.

Planning on adventuring with your dog this winter? Head to our blog for tips on properly preparing yourself and your companion for the backcountry.
During a recent ski tour to Table Mountain in the Mount Baker backcountry, three friends and I rescued a lost dog. It was an hour before sunset on a cold December afternoon and there were no other people in sight when we spotted the shorthaired mutt searching for her owners

Congratulations to all who played a role in the final protection of the 1.35-million acre Bears Ears National Monument and the 296,937-acre Gold Butte National Monument. This is a great achievement for the future of our protected areas.

President Obama designated the Bears Ears National Monument, permanently protecting 1,350,000 acres of public land in southeastern Utah.
