The link is broken. I can't find a homepage for the police in Hofu. All the policemen I have met in Houfu have been very pleasant but in general, public employees in Japan do not have a strong web presence. I hope that the police station creates a web page.

This is the headquarters of a Japanese "New" (meaning 200 year old) religion on the outskirts of Okayama City. It is essentially a Shinto shrine, some meeting rooms, and some administration buildings. There is also a platform where practitioners sit at dawn every morning in an attempt to inhale and become one with the rising sun, since, it is believed that we all have an authenticopy of the mirror of the Sun Goddess in our hearts. This may sound ridiculous or meaningless but please compare Ernst Mach's first person view, the Headless way, Or Blake's Auguries of Innocence. The staff are very friendly at not at all pushy. One of the main prayers appears to be saying "Thank you" over and over again.

Nice relaxed bar with little or no cover charge, friendly Japanese and English speaking, Eastern European Romanian barman, darts, dance floor and karaoke. Drink prices are reasonable. Daniel has a family and enjoys time with them so it may be closed on holidays.

Kido Park is on Itoyone River (a stream) on the side of Ododoi mountain. Ododoi means older and younger brother since the mountain is twin peaked. The park is long and thin since it borders a road. There are facilities for lighting a barbecue, toilets at the top and bottom, and places were children and dogs can paddle. There a so few people it is possible to let ones dog off the lead for brief periods, though it may be illegal to do so. It is one of the few mountains which one can climb in central Yamaguchi City. It is a long trek to the top of the mountain, along woodland paths beyond the upper end of the park. At the peak there is a small shrine. Alas there is not much to see from the top of Ododoi Mountain since there are so many trees. One can go over the top of the mountain and down back down into the City if you are fit and have good brakes on your bike.

Traditional national university in spacious urban location with all of the fun and resources but less risk and cost. Long history, committed staff and dilligent students.
