A repatriated Dane now living in the Greater Vancouver Area, British Columbia with two hulking sons, my amazing wife of more than ten years and two mutts. I remain in awe of the natural beauty of my adopted homeland, Canada. The sheer enormity and variety of this landmass presents endless opportunity for exploration and photography. However, my real passion lies in portraiture and I'm fortunate to meet and know a great many interesting people to photograph.

Came across this scene this week-end. This massive Hyundai cargo ship had just cleared the tip of Stanley Park, steaming out of Vancouver. Looking through the viewfinder with the high contrast and the actinic light of a low-hanging winter sun, I was for a moment transported back to the 40's wartime convoys and how it must have been to be on a beach seeing them head into the Atlantic.
