I'm not sure exactly why this video makes me feel as happy and at peace with the world as it does. But just watch it, and smile. You'll be glad you did.

Earlier today I posted a link to a blog (http://www.blogher.com/rape-jokes-and-oatmeal?page=0,0) about why rape jokes are an EXTREMELY touchy subject. In the discussion that followed, where rape was compared to a peanut allergy (I wish I was kidding), the point was made repeatedly that if jokes about murder, guns, etc were ok then rape jokes should be too.

I chickened out in voicing my personal opinion about why there is a difference. Why? Because it's personal and not something that I talk about a whole lot. Thankfully, a dear friend pointed me in the direction of this blog which once again says the words I am unable to find my voice for.

From the blog:

So, here’s the real reason that rape jokes are troubled territory –

Because the rape victims say so...

But consider this:

You get to not be a rape victim.

They, however, are not afforded that luxury. Ever again.

That may be the most important consideration of them all.

Don't understand why some of us take up arms against rape appearing in jokes, movies, books, etc as a "norm"?

Read this article about Rape Culture, it says everything I always wished I could say on the subject.
