I keep reading stories that stress that the Wall Street protests “lack a coherent message.” Is the chronic mention of “leaderless” or “incoherent” intended to question the rationality of the protests, or is it just a confession of an inability to find the common thread in multiple demands? Or is it a confession that real democratic action is scary? Or...?

Personally, I’d love to see the story that begins: “Today thousands of protesters, unwilling to remain silent or passive any longer, left their jobs and homes to publicly protest the growing lawlessness and corruption of corporate America…”

Is anyone really still watching the so-called debates among the Republican presidential candidates? I’ve stopped even catching up on the highlights the morning after. They are entirely predictable, and numbingly stupid.
