La Urbana is bringing creative cocktails, sophisticated cantina-style Mexican food, and cutting-edge design to the Divisadero Corridor.

Perhaps the only thing that excites us more than contemporary Mexican cuisine is the artisanal production of Mezcal, and the La Urbana experience celebrates both in the menu and in the design. We searched through small Mexican towns for everyday pieces of furniture that would recall the country’s rural ‘tienditas,' and then invited contemporary Mexican artists to work on the furniture and the space itself.

Experience this incredible expression of modern Mexican cuisine. Aqui nos vemos!

Read about La Urbana Garage Taco Tuesday on 7x7. Went the following Tuesday to check out the scene. No kidding, La Urbana Garage took place in the back of the restaurant, literally in a garage. It’s got a good number of tables, a bar, a big screen TV, it’s a nice little place to hang out with tacos! There were 4 flavors - beef, pork, chicken, and vegetarian. I tried them all and liked them all! Tacos were tiny though, but I mean they were only $2 each! Friend had a watermelon/some kind of fruity beer - it was pretty light and sweet. Loved the experience and will be going back for more taco Tuesdays!

Ambience was very latin like, what I'd expect in a major metropolitan Spanish speaking city. Crowded and expensive with fair fare. Good date vibe if you can afford the tab.

Nice spot to sit and enjoy the weather. Very laid back, cheap happy hour ($2 tacos, $4 drafts).

I am a fan of La Urbana. I have been to both the restaurant and the small bar area where they do happy hour and both are great. La Urbana is certainly not cheap, however it is good cuisine. The tacos for happy hour are very small, but the tortillas are fresh made and excellent. The ahi tuna appetizer is a must try and the steak is also very good. Drinks are well made and they have a good beer selection. Overall nice atmosphere and good service. I would recommend making a reservation.

Love this chill tex mex spot. I've never gone here without having a good time and a mouthful of free, fresh, limey popcorn. The mezcal is great and definitely makes the drinks amazing. i had a watermelon spring fling that was STRONG and delicious. The food is good, but I am a vegetarian and I wasn't in love with the seasonal tacos as they were mostly corn. The salsa on the otherhand was fantastic- smokey and rich. With the garage doors open for an evening drink at this cool spot, you can't go wrong.

I've only been for Taco Tuesday in the area of their restaurant they call "the garage". Their Taco Tuesday seems to have many fans, so it was crowded & tough to get a seat. The garage is a separate part of the restaurant & doesn't seem to take reservations - so you might have to have some patience (you do get free popcorn while you wait). I was by myself, so I was able to squeeze in at the "public table", a long table seating multiple parties. The garage door (literally) was open - which makes for a nice open air feel to it. They sold three kinds of "street tacos" - small but tasty, bottled beer &, I believe, sangria. I enjoyed it all & recommend their Taco Tuesday in the "garage".

We were walk ins. We were seated at a community table. Being at a community table was not as good as in Europe where the others will talk to you. The food was interesting and good. Service only reasonable. Has been an interesting addition to our USA trip.

Warning!!! The drinks are strong and delish here. Make sure to try their speciality drinks. Wise man (or woman as the case may be) said "listen to your bartender." The only thing that can top the drinks is the food. Each dish was fresh, perfectly seasoned and wonderfully prepared. Try the ceviche!
