Gayla's posts

Our cat has Chronic Renal Failure and we're at the point now of administering subcutaneous fluids. About to do it for the first time tonight. I've read everything I can get my hands on RE CRF, including several cat natural health and homeopathic books that we own. So much conflicting info, especially if you are more holistically inclined and your vet is allopathic. Anyone have any experience with this?

I am happy to say that one of my photos from Dominica is featured today on FlakPhoto. Big thanks to +Andy Adams for everything he does to promote and foster a wide range of image makers.

Update: Andy asked me to write a bit about this image…
This photo was taken in Dominica — a small Caribbean island in the Lesser Antilles. The wall in the photo runs along Bath Road in Roseau, Dominica’s capital city, and beyond the wall is the recently constructed Windsor Park stadium which predominantly plays host to cricket matches and cultural events. My partner Gayla and I were in Dominica during their national elections which also coincided with the Christmas holidays. Party-faithful flags of red, green, and blue were doing double duty as festive colour. Dominica is a also mind-bogglingly lush natural place where plant growth is a force to be reckoned with. I loved seeing massive overgrowth climbing poles, lines, and whatever else was immobile — a terrific nuisance of course for those who live on Dominica and must be vigilant against the green sprawl. I am also drawn to the happenstance geometry of intersecting utility pole wiring so this scene had a range of mental boxes ticked for me.

In Search of My Grandmother's Garden

"To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child."

Tracing my roots and attempting to discover the things that occurred before I was born.

My grandmother and ancestors on my maternal side are from a small island in the Caribbean called, Dominica. My mother is from Barbados. I am first generation Canadian.

Prior to this trip I had never been to the West Indies but always longed to go. I went to experience it for myself and to try and trace my lineage.

Dec-Jan 2009.

Barbados (4 days), Dominica (3 weeks), and St. Lucia (1 week).
