I'm in the middle of Aeronaut's Windlass myself at the moment. I'm absolutely LOVING the cast. Gwen, Benedict, Bridget, and Rowl are all immensely interesting "central protagonist" characters, and the "supporting cast" of Feros, Folly, and Grimm are equally engaging and entertaining.

In a book like this with a cast this large on the first installment, there's always this worry that I won't be interested in one or more of the characters, one that's intensified when the author does as Butcher does and switches which character is the perspective character from chapter to chapter. There's always this fear that "Oh, it's another chapter from (character I don't care for), I kind of want to skip to the next and see if it switches back to (character[s] I really like)."

I don't get that from Aeronaut's Windlass. I'm in absolutely no hurry to switch out of the perspective of any one character, and there's no dread when moving from one to another at each chapter break.

I'll probably have more to say when I actually finish the book, but I can't at all disagree with the points raised above, and am eagerly looking forward to not only the second half but also the remainder of the trilogy and any other books within the setting to follow.
