Municipalities, Regional Districts, and First Nations communities in B.C. requiring training are invited to apply for the JIBC Community Public Safety Award.

Up to $2,000 is available for each eligible community towards the cost of specialized emergency management training provided by JIBC. @BC Hydro provides funds for these awards to increase capability of communities in their training of first responders, employees, and volunteers.

Application Deadline: AUGUST 31.

Seats are still available for the Accelerated Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course in Kelowna starting March 13.

This course is specifically designed for students with a previous first-aid or emergency health background and bridges the critical gaps necessary to handle a broader range of emergencies and medical conditions. There are pre-requisites for this EMR offering.

JIBC is hosting a special International Women's Day event aimed at inspiring people in the fields of public safety and social justice to bring the female perspective into their work in meaningful and innovative ways. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, clients and the community. Special guests include Senator Mobina Jaffer and Nanaimo Fire Chief and Director of Public Safety Karen Fry.
