NAE HEADS TO AMERICA!

Huge congratulations to our Excellence student Nae Kojima (16 yrs), who has not only been offered a place in the Summer Intensive of the School of American Ballet in New York, but also received an invitation to join the Inaugural Junior Company of the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC.

She will spend all of July in New York at the SAB, then return to Australia to pack her bags for the big move to Washington end of August.

Nae has been training at ABDA since she was just 5 years old, and she continues to inspire so many.. She is one of the most dedicated, hard-working, passionate and humble dancers we know; and is loved and respected by all.

We are savouring our last months with Nae in our midst, before she embarks on this wonderful next chapter of her ballet journey.

On our way to Wellington NZ

After an extremely early morning pickup, we arrived at the Brisbane airport on Tuesday full of energy and excitement for the AHA Awards. After months of preparations, the day of departure had finally arrived!Smooth flight into Wellington, then straight onto a shuttle bus to the hotel, from where we had only an hour or so to prepare for our first class/rehearsal at the amazing facilities of the New Zealand School of Dance. Back to the hotel at 9pm and straight to bed!

Today we were lucky enough to be able to visit the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company. We were given a full tour of the building including the wardrobe and pointe shoe room, and watched the company taking their daily ballet class.

Inspiring for our young students and their parents for sure, and great for them to see the real life of a dancer – lots of hard work! Our free afternoon was spent at the Te Papa Museum, full of amazing displays of Maori culture, NZ flora and fauna and a new Gallipoli exhibition – fantastic!

And back to the NZ School of Dance for more class and rehearsals tonight, together with our friends from the Newcastle Ballet Theatre.

The competition begins tomorrow – for the youngest ones at 5:30am for hair and make-up!

The Bejart School in Lausanne blew us all away on our European Tour – we eagerly look forward to Isabella starting there and sharing her new journey with us.

We are so proud of Isabella – with just 4 years of ballet training after being in a wheelchair, she has worked tirelessly to achieve her goals.. and what an amazing international achievement!

Isabella will commence a two year full-time training program in Classical and Contemporary Dance at this legendary institution in September.

Joshua joining San Francisco Ballet School

Our Prix de Lausanne Finalist, Joshua Price (16), has returned from an amazing and life-changing experience in Switzerland with many offers to attend prestigious international ballet institutions.

After much thought, Joshua has decided to take up a full scholarship at the San Francisco Ballet School, beginning in June with the Summer Program, and leading into the school year starting September.

Joshua had the privilege of working with Patrick Armand, Associate Director of the SF Ballet School, while he was at the Prix de Lausanne, and we know he will continue to thrive under his care at the school.

Fantastic choice, and a well-deserved scholarship!
