The name Romados is an anagram of the last names of founding partners, who started the business together in 1994 along with the help of their families. The original concept was to build a family run business that would make and sell traditional Portuguese food specialties in house. At first the bakery was the main focus of the original business, with large ovens, bread and pastry making equipment imported from Portugal filling almost every available square foot of the restaurant on Rue Rachel.

Within a few years it was determined that Fernando Machado would become the sole proprietor and as a result the business quickly took off becoming a phenomenon in the Plateau district and the Island of Montreal. As the restaurant grew Fernando added rotisserie chicken to the menu to complement the selection of house made Portuguese specialties and baked goods.

Goddamned delicious rotisserie 🐔! You must not leave without trying their desserts though... The Portuguese "guardanapos" (literally "napkins") are out of this world.

Porco alentejana is to die for, the chicken 1/4, 1/2 or full chicken is great !!! if you like spicy ask for the spicy sauce ! The only thing, since the place burned their fries haven't been the same. But the solution is POUTINE !! SO GOOD !

What an amazing place to eat for such a low price. The quality you get for what you pay is hard to beat. If you do not want to eat inside, just walk one block south and you'll hit a park. Very relaxing place! Just don't feed the lone pigeon that scouts the area for Romados, his entire family will fly in out of nowhere and sing until you feed them more haha. Also, they accept both debit and cash - no credit. What a great place to be. Would recommend it to anyone!

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. My friends and I wanted sandwiches but they were out of bread... On a saturday night. We then proceeded to order poutines and asked to have the sauce on the side because we were taking it to go and didn't want our fries to get soggy. They refused and said there was no exception. We asked to see the manager and they just sent another employee to tell us the same thing. I am definitely never going back there again.

Haven't been there in a while. But still remember the food, I would call it sinfully delicious, it's a pick up and go place. Even though they have places to sit...

I loved the food there. This is the best portugese chicken and the fries are to die for. Ask them to put their portugese sauce on the fries as well. The ambience is not the best, its a place where you go to take out the food and not sit and hang out there, but well worth it.

Good place, good price, good chicken, good crispy fries. The chicken even with spices could use more salt or spices or something. Tried their deserts also pretty good. That's it on Romados.
