The Department of Public Instruction is pleased to introduce Monica Treptow, our new School Library Media Education Consultant. Monica comes to DPI from the Wilson Elementary School in the Mequon-Thiensville School District. Monica was the District Research and Digital Literacy Coordinator from 2010 to 2017. She was the Library Media Specialist at Port Washington High School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School from 2006 to 2010. From 2004 to 2006, Monica was the Library Media Specialist at Jefferson. Monica was English Teacher and Writing Center Director at the Port Washington High School from 1999 to 2004.
Please join me in welcoming Monica to the Department.

eSports (via eGaming connections) comes to Hartland Arrowhead as a growth of interest based learning, participatory culture, and career based connections. The growth of technology aspects of coding and gaming provides new avenues for students led by innovative educators.

In Wisconsin schools, the 90% adoption of the Google Suite (Google Apps for Ed) combined with this data is redefining teaching and learning. Digitally inclusive classrooms can be only sustained with home broadband access. The measure of the quality of home access is the ability to stream a YouTube video and to have access besides just a mobile data plan.

Parents; teachers; other educators, school administrators, and board members; business and civic officials; and all citizens will have an opportunity to learn about and comment on Wisconsin’s draft plan to implement federal education law during a series of listening sessions in June. DPI has announced the six public listening session for June around the state and the process for public feedback.

Ms Treptow is currently the District Research and Digital Literacy Coordinator for the Mequon-Thiensville School District. She has been a school library media specialist for 12 years, and an English Teacher and Writing Center Director for nine. Ms. Treptow was a finalist for the 2016 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship and she was recognized as the Mequon-Thiensville Outstanding Educator of the Year for 2016-2017. Ms. Treptow was a nominee for the School Library Journal School Librarian of the Year in 2015. Ms. Treptow will be joining the Department on July 24, 2017.
