After reading the reviews I was really looking forward to eating here, the reviews are for the most part are glowing. Unfortunately this place did not meet the hype. I'm pretty much what you would call an expert foodie having traveled extensively eating at dives and high end restaurants from London - New York, SF to Sydney and beyond and I've work in the industry for over 25 years now. I sat at the bar I had the crab and fried pork appetizers, they were good, to very good 4.5 stars. Then I ordered the swordfish, it was good but the salsa with avocado was lacking. For dessert I had the chocolate, it was a tower of brownies, ice cream and cookies, it look fabulous, unfortunately it looked better than it tasted. In the end service seemed to be hit and miss, then really deteriorate to just plain bad. After my entree I waited 30 minutes to order dessert, then when the bill came I was over charged, there were items on my bill I did not order. So I would give this place THREE STAR... But minus one start for bad service and minus another start for being overcharged. Final review is ONE STAR, this place is highly overrated. I really don't like the feeling when you leave a restaurant, you get this gut feeling that you can't trust the staff and find out you have been over charged.

This was our last meal in Puerto Rico after two weeks of excellent meals all over the island. Jose Enrique was in a league of its own. We shared a couple of appetizers and a couple entrees -- all amazing. I got the feeling that I could have just ordered randomly off the menus and would not have gone wrong. I only wish there were more people in our party so we could have tried more dishes.

This is the best restaurant in the area for several reasons*. My initial walk to the restaurant was not successful as I circled La Placita several times before realizing that there is no signage(*Reason #1). This got me excited, I ordered the housemade pork sausage with super thin, crispy, yet still being pliable(for lack of better term) enough to fold the pork sausage into a Taco(*#2), with the house pique, perfectly spicy, lots of flavor(*#3). Washes down well with the PR beer of choice Medalla(why they don't have this in Mainland USA I'll never know.) Ordered the balajú(think mini sword fish) marinated in OJ and Sriracha, FRIED to perfection. I was able to pull the fish by the head and strip the lightly salted flesh very easily.(*#4). I was too full to order anything else but dessert, and the flan is to die for. Best you'll ever have. The first was the most delicate, flavorful yet extremely subtle orange egg custard(#*5)so perfect it may have been torch caramelized on top much as creme bruleé. The second was light in texture and had a neat, perfect nutty flavor. Finished with homemade whipped cream.(*#6) Bartender was attentive and knowledgeable in everything I asked about(*#7). The chef was in house, shaking hands and greeting people, adjusting the music slightly lower as to perfectly balance the noise(*#8). All in all very well run, food came out with precision in timing, constant flow, never a moment where I felt like I was waiting.(*#9) Pay attention it's a Pink well maintained facade and you can easily mistake it for anything but the finest restaurant in San Juan!!!!!!!

This restaurant does not have reservations available. This restaurant seats parties according to their sign-up on the sheet. We had parties of 7 and 8 in front of us. We waited 2.5 hours for a table. If you want to eat early, you must come early. The wait was more bearable because we ordered drinks and appetizers from the bar while we waited. The mojitos are the best I've ever tasted! They can add fresh-squeezed passion fruit or acerola (Caribbean cherry) to the mojito and it's all mind blowing. I had the cheese balls, fried fish, and the cangrejo (crab in a pastry). Everything was delicious, but then again everything was fried in some form or another. The hot sauce is to die for. It's delicious and unfortunately they don't sell it in a bottle to take home (maybe that's a good thing?). I had the restaurant's specialty, the red snapper. It's fried served with a mango avocado salsa over a bed of mashed potatoes. The best part were the potatoes, they had a hint of sweetness to it. This place is super popular and is the best food I've had in San Juan so far. It's definitely away from the Condado (touristy) area. Give it a try, but be ready to wait.

Excellent restaurant with quality food and ingredients. Try the chocolate dessert and the "Carne Guisada". Be there early unless you want to wait 1 hour or more for a table.
