Hal had a great personality and no doubt was very experienced in the industry, I'm new to the area and brought in a import performance car with twin turbochargers for a smog certificate ,what a nightmare! My car passed the smog in Sacramento equipped in the same way just two years prior, first of all rural areas do a 2 speed idle test and check the function of your EGR valve in short it's a more difficult test which makes no sense considering we are in a rural county, I felt the two mechanics had little knowledge and no appreciation of the work that I had done, example water injection (intake) I was told it was an illegal eshaust mod, and the attention to detail my vehicle received ,WTF as if it was a test vehicle from the Air Resources Board! If I had gone to a referee the results would not have been any different! They are great at their job but who really benefited ? hal made $20 for over two hours worth of work, the stations in Sacramento would probably see 20 people in two hours at roughly 40 to $50 so I ask you who has the better business model, and now my cars off the road for the next several weeks possibly months while I collect the parts and educate myself how to comply with test ,meantime the locals are driving coal rollers and pre smog big block chevys.

hope to god they get right the first time! they did some s10 fuel injections. I asked to put in the "Pickup Multiport Fuel Injection Converstion" hal said "NO" I told me I have to use his parts. two reasons I think he put up a fight on it 1. he wanted the full price on them (he gets them for 300.00 then he get you to pay the retail price of 500.00) 2. he didn't want my truck to sit there for one more day. I pay him get the truck back and the air-bag-light is on. he tells me I did it, and it's not his problem. 4 years later i take my truck to REAL SHOP and the guys finds the fuel lines into the injectors are popping and now i need a new set. Hal's Honey Run Automotive crosstread a nut that and did not fix it. they just pushed in the fuel lines and hoped of the best. I go in there to day real nice and asked him about the warranty he said "HA it's been been 4 years! you don't have a warranty!" so i told him what happen then he gets the big dumb smile on his face and said "it's been 4 years. it not my problem." so if you go there get lots of video of your car and all off your working parts then have a real shop check it out to make sure it was don right

I've been going to Hal's for over twenty years. I have always found him to be honest and upfront. The one time they made a mistake they fixed the mistake at no charge. Sometimes a little pricier than other mechanics but I'd rather pay to get it right than pay less to get it wrong.

Put my brakes together with RTV. DO NOT trust this shop as they will rig your car to fail and change you more money later. The repairs are unsafe and the shop in unethical. Run, not walk away from this shop.

I don't get these negative reviews, I took my car in and found Hal to be an honest straight forward kind of guy. They fixed my car at fair cost and fixed a fuel pump connection for free that could have cost me new pump and harness from some mechanics. We're talking Ford Mustang and these parts (performance) aren't cheap. Anyways, they didn't hide any costs or inflate any parts cost as a matter of fact at the very end I was given additional 10% veterans discount. I'm taking car back for more work this week, will update post with results...

They will not accept responsibility for what they do. He made my truck unsafe to drive and admitted he didn't know what was going to happen. Charged me for a part that was over 100.00 dollars and never put it on the truck. Told the BAR, Bureau of Automotive Repair that I had told them what to do so it wasn't their fault. I guess that means if you ask for an oil change and they cross thread the plug, you burn up the engine, it's your fault because you told them what to do. no integrity...

This place will rip you off. Hold on to your wallet. Went in for 29.99 lube and was given 57.00 bill with no previous call. Also took jeep in for brakes, was told axle seals leaked but not urgent. Drove for 4 days, car made loud "singing" noise. Took it back and though they say they guarantee their work for 6 mos. they wanted 160.00 just too look at it. Also the "not urgent" work delay may have cost up to 1500.00 in wheel bearing damage. Also, loose brake caliper from their brake job was fixed for free by Transmatic in Chico.
