CREATIVE COMMUNITY Garden Project – one year on

Over the last year volunteers have been busy working together transforming the space around Hurst Green Community Centre into a community garden for everyone to enjoy. Hurst Green Gardening Club, Mighty Oaks Youth Club, Men in Sheds, Little Oaks nursery, David Gresham House, Boostfitness and local churches as well as well as individuals have worked with us. Children, young people and adults have dug, cleared, been creative, painted and planted in this first year of the project.

A large mosaic panel inspired by the changing seasons in Hurst Green was designed and made by local people with the help of artist Oliver Budd as part of our project. A special event on 8 April 2017 was held to celebrate the project where Tandridge District Council Chairman Pat Cannon and Oliver Budd unveiled the mosaic.

Thanks to Tandridge Health and Wellbeing Board and Gatwick Airport Community Fund for their funding.

We are about to start the second year of this project with funding from Tesco Bags of Help.

If you would like to join in with our project, keep an eye out for local publicity or email
