A little bull drama at the ranch…
Yesterday, as I sat eating breakfast with Nancy I heard an odd bleating sound coming from the back side of my cabin.  "What’s that?" I asked. "Just a cow, it sounds like," she said. We continued eating and having a g...

California's Cachuma Lake, a beloved outdoor destination and source of drinking water for 200,000 people, is vanishing during the state's lengthy drought. Spots where 50 feet of water once stood are now just dry dirt.

I've done my share of Bikram-styled yoga. I liked it despite its cultic leanings. But, hey, name one guru who is/wasn't flawed.

Where I live…
by Stacey Warde I walked into a tree limb with my head at work this week. It threw me back hard, flat on my ass, and stunned me. Shaken, embarrassed, flattened, rolling on the ground, a huge gas bl...

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, some hard cases refuse to acknowledge the facts, believing the weird science of pseudo-scientists.

Story
Introduction
Currently, I work as a farmhand. Until recently I was a grower, tending 1,500 blueberries at a farm a few miles inland from Highway 1 on California's scenic Central Coast. It's good hard work and a welcome alternative to sitting at the computer day in and day out.

An ideal balanced lifestyle, for me, is time in the field, working the body, and time at my desk reading and writing, working the brain.

I also write and occasionally publish, including my recent column, Farmhand Diaries, for Green Living Press, and essays for the online publications Cold Type, Common Dreams and Counter Punch.

My greatest joy has been to publish a monthly literary magazine, The Rogue Voice, which folded soon after the economy crashed and ad revenues quickly declined for our unique print publication.

I have worked as a freelance writer and editor, avoiding whenever possible soul-crushing office spaces. I like working out of my home and outdoors, and pursuing my interests in music, art and literature. I've had the honor of working with talented authors, artists, growers, farmers and innovators, all of which has been priceless.

I have also worked as a landscaper with an emphasis on native, sustainable landscapes.

I post occasional essays at my blog: Rogue's View, to feed my writing and publishing hunger, and spend the rest of my time in the garden, working with the soil. §
