DLNA kicks AirPlay's sorry proprietary ass... Apple chose to lock their users into their own immitation of the standard rather than play nicely with the > 440 million devices that already support DLNA. Shame since this makes buying a network/wireless home audio/video equipment needlessly complex. Another reason there's no Apple stuff in my house -- their devices seem to be mini prisons designed to consistently rob you of your money and lock you inside their world. Shameful.

aka the "Apple ecosystem" - it's just great that everything just talks to each other!
(as long as it's apple)

Banks had their chance, this is the future: Peer to peer lending.

Loan/borrow direct from people and get a much better rate whist knowing some bankster spiv isn't using your money to gamble, or your debt to bend you over at extortionate rates.

Members of the p2p finance association include Zopa, Finance Circle and RateSetter.

Invest and help the economy whilst shunning those filthy banks! Get involved (UK) people!
The Peer-to-Peer Finance Association is a new UK trade body. It has been set up primarily to ensure this innovative and fast growing sector maintains high minimum standards of protection for consumers...

This is a great summary of where we find ourselves economically going forward... definitely worth a read as an antidote to the "incompetent economists" issue I raised yesterday.

Zopa can offer you a great rate on your loan because our lenders are people like you who want to lend out their money.

The Land Value Taxation Campaign (LVTC) demonstrates that to shift taxation away from its current sources towards taxing the ownership of land would ease many of societies current problems

There's still a glut of dreadful economists in government offices, finance institutions and the media. They bleat continually about 'growth', 'China' and 'bailouts', making fanciful productions while clearly not understanding much about the world they now find themselves in. Somehow they are continually surprised how bad things really are, yet for some reason we still listen to to them.

But given such dreadful performance, why are they still in jobs? If they didn't see the 2007/8 crash coming then, like most deeply incompetent employees, they should lose their jobs. Bzzzzt! Fail, you lose! Plenty saw this coming a mile off, but weren't given the media coverage - or the paychecks.

I say to these chumps: start clearing their desks now, you're shit at your job.

How do we call these failures to account?

More compelling an atmosphere and general vibe than any other pub I went to in my week at the Festival... good value, nice beer and warm staff - recommended!

Nice at first glance, impressive bathrooms (for a campsite), but actually quite cramped, busy and expensive for tent pitches. Friendly staff but stuffy 'production line' camping experience.

Probably nice once full and dark with music playing, but the afternoon experience is not good... poor beer selection, bad decor and glum atmosphere.
