Foot Clinic and Orthotics
It is important to understand your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body and support you with each step. Small abnormalities in foot mechanics can have large impacts on joints higher up in the body, causing pain and discomfort.
At Whittlesea physiotherapy, we specialize in low limb biomechanics and utilize the state of the art “Gait Scan” technology to digitally analyses your feet using over 3000 pressure sensors, measuring any biomechanical deficiencies that are causing pain and other problems. Our physiotherapists can then accurately determine what the underlying cause of your problem is and address it with the best treatment techniques available. Our foot clinic also designs custom fitted orthotics for patients that require orthotic therapy using digital 3D imaging and pressure imprints of the feet. Our experienced physiotherapists commonly assist patients suffering:
Shin pain (shin splints)
Knee conditions
Foot/arch/heel pain Hip/low back pain
Tingling/numbness of the feet/lower legs
Custom fitted orthotics

Foot and Ankle Pain
We having been providing foot and ankle physiotherapy for the people of Whittlesea, Mernda, Doreen, Yan Yean, Eden Park, Humevale, Kinglake and Flowerdale since 2005.
Foot and ankle injuries are among the most common injuries seen in active individuals, particularly in sports such as netball, football and soccer, where players are required to quickly change direction, twist or jump. But it’s not just sports people who injure their ankles. Many ankle sprains occur during the course of everyday life while walking on uneven surfaces, tripping on objects, stepping off the curb, or missing a step

Wrist and Hand Pain
The hand and wrist are made up of an intricate assortment of bones, ligaments, tendons and nerves, making them highly susceptible to injury.  They are also involved in almost every activity of daily living, adding to likelihood of injury. Because of the complex biomechanics of the hand, many injuries are obvious, but some are so subtle that they can be easily missed or ignored, leading to future complications. Therefore it is important that careful diagnosis be made of all hand injuries so that proper rehabilitation can begin as early as possible.  Some common wrist and hand injuries we encounter at Whittlesea physiotherapy include:
Carpal Tunnel syndrome – The Median nerve that supplies the hand is compressed as it passes through the carpal tunnel at the wrist.
DeQuervains Tenosynovitis – an overuse injury of one of the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist
Wrist Fractures – often the distal Radius (a ‘Colles Fracture’), Ulna and Scaphoid are the most common type of fractures seen.
Dislocated finger
Wrist sprain – the ligaments and connective tissue of the wrist can be overstretched or torn
