This LFA antenna is ready for field testing and seems to be working pretty well.  I took it to a nearby lookout this afternoon to poke around on the band.  It's significantly outperforming a 5/8 wave antenna (by 8+ S points) that I used to think was excellent.   I'll probably install wing nuts on the boom clamps and use this as a portable antenna.

It's a great design and fun to build.   Thanks to Justin G0KSC - http://www.g0ksc.co.uk/

I've been getting back into amateur radio after a long break...

My current project is a 4 Element Loop Fed Array Yagi for 144 Mhz, per the design of G0KSC:  http://www.g0ksc.co.uk/4el-144mhz-ln-lfa.html

This is design is optimized for low noise and direct matching to 50 ohm coax (which is most efficient and also reduces noise), and is ideal for doing weak signal work.  I'll write more about that another time.

It's mostly finished, just needs some final assembly, clean up, and tuning.

I'll just leave this here.

Chess anyone? Ok, put down your soldering iron, turn off your spectrum analyzer, and let's play chess. Ingredients. 50 ohm BNC, SMA, and N terminators with various BNC, SMA, N, APC7, F, UHF connectors and inter-series adapters; or any other RF connectors you can find around the house.
