My husband and I started taking our 13-week old puppy, Bianca, to Downtown Dog Resort the Monday after we picked her up from a PA rescue, and she absolutely loves it! The staff members are fabulous, the facility is great, and in only 2 weeks, Bianca has turned into a much more well socialized young lady. We have only used the daycare service so far, but I would certainly also trust them enough to board her there if we ever need to (and that's HUGE coming from me, because I have never let anyone except for my sister babysit my dogs in the past). Yes, it is more expensive than leaving your puppy home alone all day, but if you sign up for a daycare package, the price is very comparable to hiring a dog walker to stop by once a day. I'm personally not a fan of inviting strangers into my house while I'm at work, and I also think that socializing a puppy is very important, so this is well worth the cost! Thank you, Jim and everyone else at Downtown Doggie! Keep up the great work!

Picked my dog up around 5:00pm and the front dest attendant was complaining about having to wait for owners to come and pick up their dogs, I asked again when they closed because I thought it was 7:00pm and she replied "Ya, the last few hours of the day just drags". I retrieved my dog, and the minute we got out side, he had to go to the bathroom as if he had not been out for hours. When we got home he had terrible diarrhea - for hours, and was severely dehydrated. I felt so awful for him. I will never go back there.

I've been boarding my dog here for 3-4 years now, and we've generally had a good experience. My dog always comes home totally pooped, so I know he's getting plenty of exercise. I always have them bathe him on the pick-up day, so I can't really speak to the cleanliness of the facility as he always comes home smelling pretty clean. The staff is alright - sometimes they are completely professional, sometimes not so much. More importantly, it seems like they care about my dog as they always remember him by name and he seems excited to see them. I've also never brought my own food - my dog isn't a picky eater, and he's always been fine for a few days on whatever food they provide. The last time I boarded my dog he came home sick - he threw up 9 times in the 24 hours following his pick-up (he recovered after a couple of days). When I picked him up I asked the staff (as I always do) how he had done, and they didn't say anything about him being sick, so it's unclear when he first became sick. However, this doesn't seem to be the norm so I will take him back in the future. If he comes home sick a second time, then I will have serious concerns, but for now it just seems like a fluke.

At first I lived this place and have been taking my dog for about a year... But they really need to something about their daycare and social media technology. When the dogs are in daycare.. The staff takes videos with wither a phone or camera... Then its supposed to be uploaded for the doggy parents to see.. BUT it seems to never be uploaded in time or even at all. YOU might be lucky sometimes to get your dig in a video... And for me my dog used to go about once a week... And for the past 4 months I haven't seen a video of her at ALL! I asked about it and they said they would get her in the next video but of course that never happened . NOW I'm worried that she might not even be getting her actual daycare time. There's no way to know ... I'm currently looking for another doggy day care unless the staff finally gets back to me.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Downtown Dog Resort and Spa. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and truly care about dogs. They take excellent care of my year old French Bulldog who LOVES it there!! They are very in tune and knowledgeable about the breed, will pull her inside if she gets too hot or over does it and give me updates about her improved interactions with other dogs (she doesn't have the best manners and wants to play with everyone!), who she likes to play with, and really know about all her quirks and nuances. I show up at all hours of the day to drop off or pick up and the place is always clean and the dogs who I see appear to be well taken care of. I've also seen how the staff interact with her on their videos and pictures, particularly when she isn't the subject of the photo/video but in the background. If she has had a particularly rambunctious day and has gotten especially dirty, they bath her free of charge. They also were over the top thoughtful and helpful during my pregnancy, often taking her in for me or bringing her out if they saw me pull up, boarded her with no notice when I had my daughter, and continue to remind me to call them when I get there so they can come out and get her so I don't have to disturb my baby to bring her in. There is another dog daycare literally 1/2 a block from my house but I wouldn't think of taking her anywhere else. In terms of the cost, I have found them to be comparable or less expensive compared to other facilities that offer less in terms of space, services, and boarding options. And they offer a discounted packages. Definitely check them out if you are looking for fun place for your pooch!

I love this place, and so does my dog. I never have to worry when my dog is there because I know he is being taken care of. The supervisor, Mark, and his staff are fantastic. They really do care about the pets entrusted in their care. I highly recommend this establishment to all dog parents, if you take your dog there, you wont be disappointed.

I have been taking my dog, a rescue, to the Downtown Dog Resort & Spa for nearly a year. He is a pit mix and has loads of energy. He absolutely loves going to daycare there. I have not had any issues with the staff or facility and highly recommend it to others. They take special care in matching dogs to others during play time to ensure they all get along. I have also boarded him there, used the grooming services, as well as the training on offer. Having a vet co-located in the building is a real bonus and convenience. They are all top rate. Keep up the great work!

We have boarded 2 of our pets here over the last several years with great success. There are different types of canine boarding available...basic boarding, resort rooms, and luxury suites. Lately, we have use the rooms for small dogs and while our dog definitely misses us (she generally returns a few pounds lighter-she doesn't eat as well when we are away), she seems safe, well cared-for, and clean. The youtube videos are a nice way of viewing her stay when we are traveling & last time, when I called to inquire how she was doing, the woman who answered the phone knew my dog by name. I believe the owner also plays a part in successful boarding. Know your dog's personality and comfort level with other dogs. Would your dog do best in a run by himself, in a group play environment, or feel safer in the quietness of a private room? It seems there are some unfavorable reviews for Downtown Dog Resort and Spa but I personally have never had a problem. Many of those reviews are older and it is absolutely good that people document their opinions as it gives the Boarding Resort an opportunity to make changes or perhaps adjust procedures. In my experience, the staff are efficient, friendly, and kind. My dog is returned to me clean, in good spirits, and the youtube videos show her active, alert, and responsive. (I have boarded elsewhere with VERY different results - my dog was shaking, urine soaked & was jittery for days afterwards-that OTHER LOCATION may have been a good match for dogs with a different personality, but not mine.) I fully intend to use Downtown Dog Resort & Spa in the future - when we returned from our last trip, they even offered to stay open a bit later so we may pick up Mimi after hours on a Sunday. We ended up flying back hours after they had closed and got her the next morning but the offer was greatly appreciated. Bottom line-ask whatever questions you have, request a tour, consider your dog's needs/wants/preferences, and board here with confidence.
