What project management app do you use? And have you tried Asana yet? Thoughts?

I'm using Basecamp though I can't say it's the perfect solution.

Looked at Asana and the UI just seemed a little obtuse. I could not find any features that it brought to the table that Basecamp did not.

Increasingly as I look at a lot of these similar products (project, task sharing) they are almost all twins.
A few partners and I are using Asana already. Very cool tool!
I like it, I just haven't found a use for it yet.
Took Asana for a test run and found it unintuitive - I needed something for team members they'd use without reading a guide. Opting for Trello at the moment for its simple interface & flexibility. Got some more recommendations too when I originally posted about it (FYI I use the free version and am not affiliated to them - Am a PM in Tech 10 yrs)
The other issue that is critical to consider when looking at these types of tools is the market that the company is aiming for.

It's great to adopt a Yammer or Socialcast -- however if these enterprise tools are aimed at 15-30,000 seat implementations - and you're a 100 (or less) company -- fat chance that your future needs and suggestions are going to trump those of the big companies.

We're going through this right now with a larger enterprise social tool and in hindsight see the need to match our sized organization (about 150-200 seats) to the target market of the enterprise social tool.

I am just preparing a presentation to SWIG (Scouse WordPress Interest Group) on Pivotal Tracker for tomorrow.
Pivotal Tracker is perfectly suited to project management of complex software projects and an Agile approach to project development. It also provides for flexible project teams and freelance/out-workers.
But more than this, you could manage a house move, build a business, complete a marketing plan or conquer the world using Pivotal.
I havent tried Asana but is superb and an essential tool in my working day.
Another thing that's important is how you license these products. I work in consulting and while I might want to invite all my customers to participate in a project - my experience is that few will actually accept the invitation and/or participate actively.

If I have to license a seat for people who are invited -- that's a much greater expense than a system that allows me to invite as many people as I wish.

Certainly that is not an issue if you're primarily using it inter-office.

Just pointing out that there are a lot more variables to evaluating these different systems than are immediately apparent.
