Good thought from Caron Wade (my 5yr old) as I was rushing him to get ready this morning for school.

"Dad, I am faster when you let me go slow."

How many of us can learn from this?

So many details are missed when we rush, go fast, or speed up the day. The fact is this: If we can go slower, we miss fewer details and are much more productive. And, we can just enjoy ourselves and others.

Slow Down. Enjoy the day. Its the only 24 hours you have today.

He Knows You

John 20:15-16

15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).
________________

She was weeping. She was seeking. She didn't notice Him. He called her by name.

In your weeping, in your seeking, He will be there - not always noticeable. Its in the weeping and the seeking that He will remind of who you are and whose you are.

HAS IT BEEN A WHILE?

I often struggle with consistency in my life. Do You? I want to exercise, eat better, pray more frequently, and even write daily. But I don't.

Today, I got a call from someone asking why I had not been blogging. I had no answer. He then asked, "Has it been a while?" I knew exactly what he meant.

Spending time, resting in the presence of God would seem to be a private discipline that was not option for the pastor, right? Of course, it should not be optional for the believer in general, but especially those of us who are also vocational pastors.

He was right - It has been a while since I had just gotten away from ministry, people, small groups, vision casting, emails, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, and all the other noise just to be with God.

Pete, our senior pastor often reminds us as a staff, "Your only job is to remain in Him." (John 15) I hear this over and over in my heart. I want it, badly. I just want to remain in Him. I just want to be with God.

So, what do I do next? NOTHING. Why? Its not about doing, but about being. Prayer, worship, communion, or any other spiritual practice is not a compartmentalized activity - it is a way of life.

Today, I am going to be with God. Not as a spiritual activity, but as a means to live. I am nothing without Him.

What about you? Will you just BE with God?

I'm the Most _______ Person I Know. (New Post)

Two days ago, I was riding home from the office and had this most depressing realization: I'm the most selfish person that I know.

Maybe you know this about me, maybe not. I often allow my best intentions to over shadow my worst inclinations.

After coming to this realization - my selfish resolve - I chose to make a decision. What is that?

Awareness of my sin. Awareness of my selfishness.

If I can remain aware, I will remain humble and "prefer my brother".  Romans 12:10

What about you? If you were to fill in the blank in the title of this post, what would it say?

Go ahead, fill in the blank and be aware.

I am the most _______ person that I know.

Leave a comment and share your "blank".

How do you overcome it? What passage of scripture makes you aware and empowers you to overcome your weakness?

Here's the link to the blog. Leave your thoughts on FB or the Blog http://www.mattwade.tv/blog/im-the-most-person-i-know

Read carefully.

"And finally Saul son of Kish was chosen from among them. But when they looked for him, he had disappeared!

So they asked the LORD, “Where is he?” And the LORD replied, “He is hiding among the baggage.”

So they found him and brought him out, and he stood head and shoulders above anyone else." (1 Samuel 10:21-23 NLT)

How many of you are hiding amongst your baggage? Your past? Your current mess?

Come out! When you do, you will stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Is he deaf—the one who made your ears? Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes? (Psalms 94:9 NLT)

Just a reminder that he has not forgotten you. He hears you. He sees you. God cares.

Pastor/leader: make sure we get this passage right. Serve more. Expect less.

Jesus told them, “In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’

But among you it will be different.

Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.

Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course.

But not here!

For I am among you as one who serves. (Luke 22:25-27 NLT)

Introduction

BIO

Matt Wade began his ministry at the early age of 13. It was out of a tragic car accident with his grandmother that he was saved on Halloween night of 1993. His first introduction to ministry was playing the drums and singing in the local church. At the age of 17, Matt accepted his calling to preach the gospel and started traveling in itinerate music and preaching ministry.

After 20 years of ministry experience, Matt is now passionately serving as a campus pastor at Cross Point Church, one of the fastest growing churches in America. Writing, traveling, playing the piano, singing, flying, and eating BBQ are things he greatly enjoys. Matt and his wife Amber have two children and a cat.

As the Dickson Campus Pastor, Matt works to lead the vision of Cross Point, provide leadership and direction to a local campus staff by guiding the six ministry areas of Cross Point. Matt works as the shepherd of the campus and performs all pastoral care duties. His main goal is to help provide a safe, love filled environment for anyone to know and experience Jesus.
