Know Theatre began in 1997 as a wandering group of performers putting on performances in book stores and cafés. The company soon settled into the church basement at Gabriel’s Corner where we were resident for six years before moving into our permanent space at 1120 Jackson Street in Over-the-Rhine. Know Theatre produces primarily contemporary American theatre in a 4-6 show mainstage season. We also produce a nationally touring education program called Calculus: The Musical!, which is exactly what it sounds like. Additionally, Know Theatre is the producer of the annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival which presents over 150 performances in 12 days in over a dozen venues each year. Finally, Know Theatre recently launched a program called the Jackson Street Market which was created to provide resources, foster collaborations, and to strengthen the local community of individual artists and very small non-profit organizations with the goal of retaining artists in the city and creating opportunities for them to make a living from their artistic endeavors.
