Large and small architectural firms have the same criteria for new hires, they just value things differently.

Getting your first job in an architectural firm is today's topic -

Architectural drawings do more than tell someone how to build something. It’s not just for aesthetics, when done correctly, they provide clarity.

Inspiring lecture last night by Gluck+...focused on bringing the architect back into architecture.
Several awesome quotes during the whole evening, but I think Peter Gluck summed it up best. "Architects are an incredibly underutilized resource."  #craft   #collaboration   #architecture

Story
Introduction
I am a licensed architect in Dallas, happily married to my wife Michelle (frequent collaborator and muse) and we have one daughter - Kate. A majority of the projects I develop are private residences but my firm also specializes in the design of fire stations and retail environments. In 2009, I received the Dallas Chapter American Institute of Architects "Young Architect of the Year" award, but it was probably for volunteering to do things that others wouldn't, shouldn't or couldn't.  For the most part life is good and I am a happy guy. I started my blog on March 4th, 2010 to learn the technology behind social media. I don't really have a list of burning issues or a controversial social agenda to promote, for the most part, I'm just a regular guy (except I put my pants on both legs at once because it's faster that way).-You can email me at:bob@lifeofanarchitect.com(particularly if you have something cool to say or an idea for a topic)
