Unnatural combustion
An additional reason leading to a blown head gasket is unnatural combustion in the event the flame doesn't spread equally as well as smoothly in the combustion chamber. This can lead to pre-ignition or even detonation issues of the engine, which unfortunately puts additional stress on the actual valves as well as the head gasket.
