Good news! The Farmstand will be open this Friday, Aug. 30th!

Certified Organic Apples- $2.75/lb.

Available varieties include:

Wealthy: (Heirloom) An apple for all uses: baking, sauce, cider, and eating. Special use as an excellent jelly apple due to high pectin levels.

Gravenstein: (Heirloom) Great for pie and sauce.

McIntosh: (Heirloom) A Classic New England apple for all purposes.

Available Herbs:

Sage
Parsley 
Rosemary
Thyme
Valerian root
Black cohosh root

All items are certified organic.

Available Apple Varieties-

Wealthy: the heirloom "jelly" apple. This apple makes a great jelly
due to high pectin levels. It is also good for baking and for cider.

McIntosh: New England classic apple ready now for fresh eating.

Apples $2.75/lb or seconds for $1.00/lb.

Organic Apple Growing with Cathy Harragian: 
Owner / Operator of Bird of the Hand Farm, a 3.5 acre organic apple orchard in Sterling, MA.

Campus Center Reading Room (Concourse Level)

Learn organic techniques to control apple pests. 
Insect pests covered include: plum curculio, coddling moth, and apple maggotfly. 
Diseases covered: scab, powdery mildew, and apple cedar rust. Pruning and maintenance of orchards and apple variety selection will also be addressed. 
Marketing discussion covers issues related to the perception of a perfect apple.
