Food was ok but expensive, small portions. I ordered a vindaloo I would say I got a Samber not a vindaloo even my wife could eat it. Place could do with an upgrade & it was freezing cold, had to keep my coat on. If you have low expectations you won't be disappointed.

The food here is really nice! I would highly recommend a dish... Garlic Shrimp with gravy... This was just so delicious! The service is nice, and food, no doubts is wonderful! Highly recommended

We made reservations: got there at 8:30 PM, but didn't get to eat till 11PM!!! They took 45 minutes to serve us appetizers, another 40 minutes to TAKE our entree orders, and even longer to serve the food!! Their excuse was that they had taken orders before ours and the manager tried to make it into our fault. The waitors did not even come to us. What is the point of making a reservation if the restaurant is not ready for us? When they finally served our food, we were the last ones there and they were closing up the area around us ..while we were eating! That really shoved into my face how late it was.

Went to Darbar for lunch today with my team on a recommendation from another team mate. The food was substandard, like a lot of Indian restaurants that boast of great tasting food, but fall short. I guess the only reason why this place does well is because it's in a place where a lot of offices are. The price is ok for a 11.95 buffet (considering it is NY), but there are far better places for Buffet in NYC, which are cheaper. The Chicken Tikka Masala (which is the most popular Indian dish) was not good. The gravy was ok but the Chicken in it was almost raw. The tandoori chicken was cut into such small pieces that it seemed like they were serving chicken bones. The veggie dishes (Bhindi, Paneer) were ok. The only thing that was good was the chocolate mousse dessert. I asked for a diet coke and it was watered down and tasted way sweeter than diet coke. I will not go here again and will not recommend to anyone.

Food was good, service was great and pleasant experience. I personally thought the Garlic naan was over priced, good taste at least. Lamb was done well and the eggplant was also delicious. Rice was good as usual. I've been there many times for lunch (great selection and price) so I would recommend for both lunch or dinner.

As a newly arrived Brit in New York, I was wondering how I was going to get my regular fix of Indian cuisine. I am now happy. Darbar at lunchtime is an excellent and inexpensive option for all those wishing to experience authentic and very tasty Indian food. The all-you-can-eat buffet had a good selection of well cooked and flavoursome dishes. The accompanying wafer-light indian bread was a revelation. I'll be back regularly.
