The New York City's Economic Development Corporation funded Columbia's proposal to create this Institute in July 2012, and there has been a significant amount of growth and success thus far, which will be shared during this open forum. The vision of the Institute is to be the single world-leading institution in research and education in the theory and practice of the emerging field of data science. Our research, applications, and academic programs will focus on the following themes: Cybersecurity, Health Analytics, Financial Analytics, Foundations of Data Science, New Media, and Smart Cities.
At the Town Hall, we will present the current status of the Institute and our plans for the near future.
