LINER NOTES: Dad Band
• Jazz, blues, and kids’ tunes--Ellington, Basie, Miles Davis, the Elmo song, and more.
• Stuart Chandler, drums; Dave Ferguson, bass; Corbin Krug, piano; Mike Powers, saxophone; Ken Sherwood trumpet.
• From Indiana, PA. The dads met when all five had children at IndiKids daycare.
• Performances: IUP Homecoming Parade; Indiana Free Library Night in the Stacks, First Unitarian Universalist Concert Series, Family Fun Fest, New Growth Arts Festival, NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet, and more.
• Dad Band will perform at the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival Jazz Crawl on June 19.
• Dad Band are the guys who started the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival.

Seven top student musicians from Indiana, Saltsburg, Penns Manor, and Punxsutawney High Schools auditioned and earned spots in the Westsylvania All-Star High School Jazz Band. Here these jazz up-and-comers at 11:30 am at the festival.

LINER NOTES: IUP Faculty Jazz Combo - 12:15 pm slot at the festival

Stanley Chepaitis, electric violin:

• First violinist, Litton Quartet.
• Professor of music and chair, IUP string faculty.
• Recordings: Three CDs--the latest, Double Take, featuring works by Bach and Telemann and original jazz compositions based on them.
• A highly sought-after teacher and clinician, Stanley is known for his innovative approach to teaching improvisation to string players of all ages. He's given clinics at Michigan State University, Washington State University, Baldwin Wallace College, the University of Ohio, the University of Oregon, the Pittsburgh Music Academy, and many more institutions.

Keith Young, saxophone:

• Director, IUP Jazz Band; professor of music, IUP.
• Was principal saxophonist with the U.S. Air Force Band, performing on sax and piano with the Concert Band, Saxophone Quartet, Jazz Protocol Combo, Orchestra, and Dixieland Band, touring the world.
• Recordings: Solo CD: Saxophone Voices from Five Countries, sold on Amazon; two master class CDs with The Saxophone Journal on performance techniques.

Nathan Santos, bass:

• Collaborations: Bernadette Peters, Joe Morello, Sherryl Milnes, Lou Christie, John Blake, Jr., George Young, Bruce Hornsby, Olivia Newton-John, Andy Narell, Dave Samuels, Carrie Tillis, Five By Design, and many others.
• From 2002-2012, Nathan Santos was the Professor of Bass Studies at IUP, where he formed the IUP Studio Bass Ensemble enabling students to experience the bass in non-traditional roles. Repertoire placed the performers into duets, trios, and quartets on acoustic and electric instruments.
