we went in mid-august. so i suppose there were still lots of school children going there with their parents. don't be fooled by its grand exterior. the outside was pretty swanky, i have to admit. but once i got inside, into the exhibits, i was very underwhelmed. the admission for adults is $15 and that's reasonable, considering the science centre in toronto is more expensive. but the problem was that many of the exhibits were on par with those of the science centre i grew up with. i didn't find that the exhibits were extremely more interactive and "fun" than the ones i played with when i was in grade school. also, the feel of the building was as if it was a giant room with lots of stuff placed throughout with separators. the gift shop was even kind of weak with a lot more knick-knaks than actual science toys. overall, i would have to say that i was somewhat disappointed with the actuality of the event. i wouldn't recommend non-children to go.

Incredible SF institution, worth the hype! Definitely not just for kids, this is a great date activity. Try the sight deprivation chamber, you won't regret it!

One of the most engaging and entertaining museums in San Francisco. The location is a little out of the way (but it's relocating to downtown), but next to one of the most beautiful landmarks of they city.

great for picking up the best educational toys for the young (or the playful adult)

This place is magical. I am a high school Physics teacher and this place was a wonderland. It is full of simple, yet elegant demonstrations for every field of science. Every student should go here if they have the chance. You'll have a blast and, before you know it, you'll have learned something!

The building and the surrounding of the Exploratorium is really nice. As soon as we went in we were very disappointed. We found a big hall filled with junk. It is a great playground for little kids, but it is very poor for a museum of science. As an adult you usually will not learn anything there. We wish we would have spent that money anywhere else.

Absolute hit with the kids. The adults loved it too. Parking is a nightmare. Try the park across the street for additional spots.

This is pretty much the coolest place in the world.
