My husband and I came to Collector’s Cafe for our anniversary dinner due to positive reviews and because (according to their billboard) they were voted #1 in service in the area. We are upper class professionals in our mid 30th, who are not strangers to fine dining. Collector’s cafe experience was worse than disappointing. Let me start with the good—the filet was good and so was the bread served with hummus and pesto. Also, their desert display is rather impressive. And now the bad—lets start from the beginning, during the reservation phone call, it was obvious that the person we talked to couldn’t have cared less that it was a special occasion. Upon arrival, we were greeted with complete indifference. Calamari appetizer was only OK (for 15 bucks I’d expect something bigger and better). We also ordered a bottle of wine, the duck and the filet. As mentioned above, the filet was good. And now the duck…we've tasted duck before (I happened to cook it quite often myself) but this time it tasted rather funny, extra (even for duck) fatty and greasy with a sour tone. We informed our server of this, who departed to consult the chef and the owner. Upon her return, the server stated that the owner (who was walking around the restaurant, periodically stopping to chat with a table full of young ladies) and the chef, looked at the duck and decided that it was cooked properly. The server stated that the duck is an acquired taste and that, perhaps, we should adjust our pallet to appreciate it. Any restaurant owner (claiming to have a fine dining establishement) would make an effort to talk to his costumers and ensure that their experience is satisfactory instead of insulting their taste buds. Surprised by this response, but determined to not let it ruin our evening, we ordered one slice of the red velvet cake. The cake was very dry. Obviously, it made no sense to complain about it to the server/chef/owner. We paid our 140 dollar bill and left. We will never return. In conclusion, this is an average restaurant (in a strip mall) with poor service and mediocre art collection. You’d have a better experience at Subway (two doors down).

My favorite restaurant at the beach. A little pricy.

I discovered Collector's when they first opened a few years ago and have been to many cities NYC/LA/Chicago etc and there are few places that hold a candle to their excellent cusine! I like steakhouses from NY prime but this is not run of the mill upscale dining. There is a artsy twist with a nice ambiance. Excellent food which brings it to the top of my list of dining anywhere I visit.

We tried out this restaurant after reading the reviews but turned out these were wrong. The food is ridiculously high priced and the portions are small. They just curb your hunger and don't fill you up!! Recommended for starters(for their small portions) and then go somewhere else to eat a real dinner. Be prepared to go to subway next door!

I've eaten there on three different occasions and they have not failed me yet! I love the art gallery, the ambiance, the contemporary cuisines and the entire staff is amazing! If you want to truly be relaxed without the hassle, come here! I promise you, you will NOT be disappointed.

Service was super; Food was excellent; Drinks were yummy. If you like lemon drop martini's, the Basil Lemon Martini was wonderful. Like other say - the scallop cake was excellent; smoked sockeye salmon was very good; grouper excellent; Tuna Tartar - wonderful. The sides with the entrees were good - the standout items were the fish. Highly recommend. Having the fabulous art to view was just fun.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinning experience. Our waitress was very helpful with the menu. The food was delightful and the chocolate cake was awesome. The next time we are in Myrtle we will defiantly go back!!

"Dining without ART... is just DINING :) " Not only is it a restaurant, but you are surrounded by exquisite art for sale by many different artists.... Locals favorite for almost 20 years. There are many different rooms in which to dine. Weekly the restaurant. RESTAURANT MEETS ART GALLERY... COLLECTORS CAFE.
