+Tom Parker Actually not. Habits mean that you shift a task from conscious control, which requires motivation, to automatic control. You don't have to motivate yourself to take your key with you when you leave the house. 

The idea is that once a habit is formed, it requires neither decision nor motivation. This is desirable since both consume your willpower.

(This does not mean that habits cannot be consciously stopped and controlled if the need arises.)
