Renowned 1960s architect and modernist designer, Warren Platner creates unique, eclectic design pieces that remain timeless and iconic throughout. His interesting use of a varying steel frame, finished with a simplistic use of red wool for cushioning in the seat and backrest alludes to his unique approach to sculpture and furniture.
The inseparable pair sit neatly under Asanda Kupa's abstract paintings in Eclectica Design and Art.

Born in Molteno, Eastern Cape, Asanda Kupa paintings grace the walls of Eclectica Design and Art.

His recent works comprising of two 40cm x 50,5cm canvases portray vibrant landscapes and its inhabitants obscured by grey washes and black and blue gestural brushstrokes. A land expressed in movement transcends fluidly into Dave Robertson's semi-abstracted urban photographs, which is placed comfortably next to that of Asanda's.

Visit Eclectica Design and Art and see a range of artworks expressed in a unique variety of artistic experiences.

Part of a possible series of three, Lars Fischedick presents Rising II at Eclectica Design and Art as part of the Muse Montage exhibition.
Lars explores the liminal space between opposite or clashing entities during a process of transition. He captures a state of compression and the fine moments of alchemy that occurs in between. His work is not solely confined to stark contrasts, but focuses on and challenges a polarized sense of seeing and being.

This morning Lars Fischedick was interviewed in the gallery by SLOW lounge magazine writer Julie Graham
for the October issue of SLOW Lounge magazine.
German-born artist, Lars Fischedick has spent the last 25 years in the examination of 3 dimensional spaces. By combining his knowledge of materials such as wood and resin with perspectival shifts, he has formed a new artistic narrative. A major influence in Lars’s current work is his studies in mathematics and projective geometry. His body of work is currently on display in the exhibition Muse Montage at Eclectica Design and Art, which displays and challenges the notions of the 'muse' and what the modern 'muse' could be.
I am exploring the meeting between reality and illusion. The movement from the surface into the 3 dimensional space and further: pushing the boundaries within my own perception and those of my audience. - Lars Fischedick
