Review by +UC Davis Health researchers informs new prostate cancer screening recommendations. The new screening recommendations, developed by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, recommend that for men ages 55-69, the decision to undergo periodic prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-based screening for prostate cancer should be an individual one and should include a discussion with the man’s clinician of both the potential benefits and harms of screening. The Task Force recommended against screening for men 70 and older. http://bit.ly/2In3O9G

When a cold virus began attacking Adolfo's heart, he was airlifted to UC Davis Children's Hosptal and Dr. Amy Rahm, pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, saved his life with the use of a heart-lung pump called an Impella. The Impella supports a patient’s pulmonary circulation by recovering the heart’s ability to pump blood while allowing the heart to rest and heal.
