This is the best Greek food that I have had in Sacramento. I love their Moussaka and the carbonara, which is supposedly a generational Greek family recipe. Whatever it is, it's amazing! Greek Village Inn is in a bit of an odd place so it's not something you would randomly drive by and discover, but their food is delicious and tastes very authentic. It's worth the trip to find this place and try their food. You'll definitely be coming back!

We were greeted by a vivacious woman, full of friendly conversation and compliments. It was quite a surprise, but a refreshing one. Turns out she was one of the two owners. Unfortunately, we were seated in a cramped table, where I had my back to the kitchen. Not only was it freezing, but the tub of dirty dishes was close by. The crashing of plates and flatware in the tub was ear-shattering. While trying to take off my coat, I nearly knocked a plaque off the wall (apparently, the back wall near the kitchen is where they display all their awards. I'm happy they are proud of their accomplishments, but some are placed too low.) I ordered the gyro sandwich which comes with french fries. My mother ordered the Grecian Plate. Our orders seemed to take a while to come out; then the owner (male) tried delivering them to a different table. When our plates finally came, my fries were stone cold. The Grecian Plate comes with a choice of meat, dolmas, spanakopita, tyropita, pilaf, and a choice of casserole. The plate we receive had tepid meat and mousaka with two pieces of spanakopita (not even tyropita). The mousaka is supposed to have a luscious béchamel sauce as the top layer; nearly custard like, it provides nearly an inch of rich, creamy flavor. Instead, there was a thin layer of blackened sauce on top of the mousaka. It tasted as if the sauce had been scorched, applied to the dish, and then broiled! Our server (not either of the owners) asked how our meal was once we were finished with our cold food. We promptly asked her for a to-go box, but she never gave it to us. The owner (male) offered to box up our food for us, but when we got home, we saw the food had been dumped in one pile. He hadn't even made an effort to seperate the different dishes. We had to ask for the check from our server; when she brought it, it was the wrong one. We corrected the issue and when she dropped off the correct bill she said, "Thanks, the other one was in your favor." While this place seems popular and has been there for years, I think they really need to work on their service. I'm sure the reason our food was cold can be attributed to the server. I hate to think the owner was trying to clean up her mess. Poor service will ruin a restaurant, regardless of how tasty the food may be.

Absolutely amazing food, I was with a group of 4 and every single dish we ordered, appetizers and desserts included, was nothing less than amazing. On top of that, extremely friendly and helpful staff, the owners came to our table and talked with us, I will be going back.

My husband and I are in Sacramento for a business trip. I always try to seek out Greek food, being Greek. This place was a HOMERUN! The food, the service, the atmosphere. We are going to go back tonight. There were so many items on the menu I wanted to try. Had the Vegetarian Dolmathes...yum. My Husband had the spaghetti carbonara...double yum. You HAVE to try this place if you love Greek food.

Greek Village Inn consistently delivers great Greek food. It's a little on the expensive side but the excellent food and service makes it worth it. If you like Greek food, you won't be disappointed.
