Real SF/Mission place. Like it used to be and should be still. Don't want to sound too nostalgic, but as much as I like the mission hoy en dia, this is the real deal.

My friend who took me here said it's changed a lot since she used to frequent this spot. The art/items on the walls are a sensory feast..however I cannot speak to the food (we had drinks/dessert). The server was also a bit abrupt with us.

I love the owner's art hanging on their walls, and that I always get to speak Spanish to him when I go there. Not to mention the great food, music, and ambiance. A little restaurant with huge character.

Like all the other reviews say... really cool decor... lots of trinkets and other random stuff on the walls and the ceiling. The sangria was delicious. We ordered two pitchers for 3 of us, and then the dudes at the table behind us spilled some of their wine on us and bought us a third pitcher to make up for it... so we ended up splitting 3 pitchers of Sangria among three people. Crazy! The food was simple but tasty. The meatballs was my favorite main, and the jambalaya was my favorite starter. The empanada was very dry... not as pastry-like as I'm used to. Service was good, I think mostly because I talked in (broken) Spanish with them. We went on a Monday night and there was no line. I don't think I'll seek this place out again though.

* Albondigas Plate - 3.5 STARS ($8.95): Enjoyed the meatball flavor (comes with about 4 small medium pieces) except that there were some odd textures thrown in. The side salad was refreshing and the dressing was tasty. The rice was a necessary complement to the beans and saucy meatballs. * Sangria - 3 STARS ($6): for a large cup, $5 for a regular cup. Available in carafes. Sweet and tasty and undeniably an amazing deal. Maybe I'm a heavy weight but it tasted more like sugar and juice than alcohol. * House wine - 1 STAR ($5): Perhaps the worst house wine I've ever had. Stick with the sangria :P Affordable place to grab some comfort food but don't expect quality sangria or alcohol.

An amazing atmosphere, creatividad para dar y tomar, all along the walls. The claim about their sangria being the best among the best maybe subjective, but worth trying it for a complete experience. The best of the place the genuine people both behind and in front of the bar. Along with the ashtoning decoration The music playing was afro cuban jazz, always full of soul. Among what was heard Chucho Valdés VS his son at the piano. Don´t loose the oportunity to have a chat with the bar tender. He is a box full of surprises. Mucho más que un barman, todo un bailarín contemporáneo. Absolutely loved it.

This is a tiny place with about 5 tables. It's definitely worth coming here for a drink just to see their wall decorations! The menu is limited, but this also means that it's not very busy. They are famous for their delicious sangria.
