Fan-fricking-tastic. Moving on from simply "here's why we're in trouble" to "here's what we - you - can do!"

So depending on how my day is going (and how depleted my "social battery", so to speak, is) I'm either a nerd or a geek. I already knew this, but I love the Venn diagram presentation (again, I'm a geek)

This was made for Valentine's Day, but it's not bad idea to watch this any day of the year.

Some language, but used for emphasis rather than gratuitously. I may need to start my morning with this from now on.

I promised I wouldn't spam you with my blog posts, but these are topics I'm really interested in and could use a good discussion (whether here or in other comments). 1) What do you think about the backlash from The Hunger Games casting and 2) How do we define geek? Do we even need to?

So I've finally done it - started a blog that hopefully encompasses enough things that I won't get annoyed at how constraining it is. I won't spam you guys with every post, though if there's one that I think is particularly good I'll put it out here. Hope you enjoy!

This amused me far too much.

So about a week ago I bemoaned the lack of a job that could be sustainable at about 30 hours a week.

Tonight, I've been hired into that job. Helllllooooo job satisfaction!

Oh come on! On weeknights, I go to bed at about 9-10 and it's a little hard to get up at five the next morning. Last night/this morning I went to bed at 1, and my body woke me up feeling ready for the day at 6. How does this even make sense?

I've had string of cancellations recently, leaving me with a couple days where I only had two clients (between 4-6 hours) a day. As much as I love what I do, that seems to really be the perfect amount for me to do behavior tutoring - enough that I get into the swing of it, but not enough for me to get burnt out (or, as happened earlier this week, have three kids in a row have long behavior excesses - by the time I got to the last one I was completely worn out and distinctly less effective).

Now, if I can just find a job that will pay me a sustainable wage for about 30 hours a week. Anyone? :P
