Played in my band for a friends wedding Feb 2014. The resident DJ could not do enough to support us and make us sound good. He even brought a big pa to put the vocals and keyboard through and some lights to light up the band. The venue where very helpful and friendly. We also stopped in the hotel over night which was very nice.

The hotel is well located in the historic bailgate of Lincoln, although The Lawn complex it is situated in has fallen into disrepair and is depressing in its dereliction. We were greeted very well, shown around the hotel and to our room which was lovely, but unfortunately offered no history of the building or its surroundings. Our room was spacious, with a large ensuite bathroom and a separate lounge area. The room has televisions and phones in both rooms and the WiFi was free with the code easy to find as soon as we entered our room. The decor of our room and the rest of the hotel was somewhat lacking. As a former Lincoln resident I had heard of the gandure and luxury of this hotel, however it did not meet expectations. Throughout our suite and the rest of the hotel disrepair, a lack of maintance and style showed. Our telephone had a restaurant which closed over two years ago on speed dial, the hot water machine had limescale, drawers has missing handles, wallpaper was poorly patched and various walls around the building had raw plugs holes, filler and poor paintwork. I appreciate I am being very critical, but I had been sold a luxury experience and I was not receiving one. We watched some TV in our lounge rooms where we had a somewhat confusing EPG, but a wide range of channels. In the bedroom we found the remote had no battery, and once swapped with the other remote we found we had the same EPG but were limted to only 10 of the channels available next door. We slept well, although the top later of bedding felt worn and looked unwashed so was just removed it, the bed in fact looked better with all white sheets. Breakfast was a mix of good and bad. The service was slow, with our poor waiter not understanding, presumably from a lack of training, how to take or write down an order. Then menu was a torn piece of photocopied paper, and mentioned no local sourcing of items such as the bacon, sausage and coffee - which I hope were from Elite Meats and Stokes. We had both the cooked to order and continental breakfast options, although had I seen the buffet before I wouldn't have bothered. The meat and cheese was a poor offer, and the pastries were an inch long and everything else was very generic and unlabelled. The cooked breakfast with scramble was okay for me, just a dry black pudding, however my partners poached egg was inedible. It was overcooked, under seasoned and almost spat out on to the plate. We also overheard another table making a joke about the toast they had asked for, around five times which only received as we were leaving. One last thing, we stayed overnight on the 13th of February, to enjoy Valentines day away from home, however there was no recognition of this event in the hotel at all. Other hotels would have offered breakfast in bed, Prosseco in your room, a themed breakfast menu, or at the very least wished you a happy Valentine's at breakfast. None of this happened. Overall our stay was okay, nothing great or terrible happpen, the hotel was neither wonderful nor appalling, it was just mediocre, and my expectations were so much higher. The best part was the shower.
