For those of that know me, you know that I used to active participant of the online photography world, that changed when I was awarded my dream job. I still take pictures, but I have yet to process them and share my stories. This includes recent trips, backpacking around Scotland, diving Indonesia, trekking throughout national parks of the southwest, among others. A few exceptions can be seen online for work!
I am a scientist with the Ocean Program of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), specifically a member of the Research and Development team. I am truly lucky to have fallen into this position. As I was defending my dissertation in December of 2011, I was awarded a prestigious California SeaGrant Fellowship, I soon realized that my heart wanted me to go another direction. I happened on a position with EDF.
With the Research and Development team, I get to maintain my interest in ecology, but I also get to be applied. What a great fit that has me working and traveling around the, from countries such, Belize, Cuba, Mexico, Indonesia and the Philippines. In the future, I am going to attempt to blog about the exciting and innovative work that I am part of with the Oceans Program.
Here is a link to some of my work in Cuba, truly a fascinating place:http://www.edf.org/sites/default/files/content/waitt_cuba-research-cruise_oct2013_08_screen.pdf
