Although our tour guide was good, the experience was just ...so so. At the first Pizzeria- We were not allowed to eat inside- it was a nice evening so it was too much of a problem. When the tour guide had commented " at least its not raining outside"- I had asked " would you be allowed inside if that were the case"? Her response was "no"- all I could envision was eating soggy pizza. The tour guide gave us some history about the pizzeria but I was able to hear most of what she said because the music was blaring from the restaurant's outside speakers. At least at the second Pizzeria we were able to go inside, but at the third one we had to not only stand outside but had to eat our pizza standing up. I have been on several food tours in the past but none that made you stay outside the restaurant. I understand that these restaurants are busy but that is no excuse and frankly it doesn't fair well for them nor the food tour having patrons eat outside. I would had definitely of liked pizza with more than just cheese on it!

We had a wonderful pizza tour. Our tour guide was Will and we did the 4:30pm tour. Even though we walked thru driving rains and umbrella collapsing wind - we had a great time learning about deep-dish pizza while eating at each of the restaurants, including Pizzeria Uno, which has the original deep-dish pizza. Will was a great tour guide and we really enjoyed all the things he had to tell us about pizza and Chicago. We had a great evening.

If you love pizza and Chicago, you'd love this tour! I had some of the best pizzas in town in just 2 hrs. The tour was great and I learned some things I didn't know about dip dish and Chicago. Lauren and Mark were very nice and the made the tour worth every penny. Highly recommended .

We went on the opening night of the company's pizza tour and we were pleasantly impressed, we had a great time, the hosts are both knowledgeable and friendly. The pizza was great and we got to learn about pizza that we already knew, as well as a few new surprises. Even in the cold weather the walk was very manageable and refreshing and not too long. It was fun to meet the proprietors of the companys and learn about them. The proprietors were very accomodating and happy to see us. Overall, a fun thing to do for locals and tourists alike. If you like pizza, you'll like the tour. Patti M.

The tour was fun and informative despite the downpour of rain. After reading some of the previous reviews, I was worried about the amount of pizza we would get. Everyone on the tour got a decent sized slice of pizza from each of the three restaurants and had an opportunity to have more if they wanted. Like the other reviews said, the only restaurant you go inside and can order drinks is pizzeria ora. Bring an umbrella if rain is likely.

I went on the 4:30 PM tour. I wish I could remember the name of the tour guide, but he did an excellent job. I really enjoyed the tour. As a local Chicagoan, I'll certainly go back next time I have friends visiting. I went on this tour on a cloudy Friday afternoon. We went to Pizzeria Uno, Pizzeria Ora, and Gioradano's. Each of the pizza places was excellent. The guide was very friendly and gave us a lot of information about the history of Chicago pizza. I like how the tour was spaced out. We stood at Uno's at the start of the tour, but when we got to Ora, we were able to sit down. Very reasonably priced beer was available for purchase at Ora and water was available as well. We then had a longer walk when we walked by Gino's East on the way towards Gioradano's. Gioradano's had just closed their outdoor seating, but they allowed us to use it for this tour so we could sit down. This tour is very highly recommended, a great way to get pizza at some of the best Chicago pizza places without the long waits.

If you have a free evening in towntown Chicago, Slice of Chicago can't be missed. For less than the price of dinner anywhere else in that area, you'll get to sample some great pizza (there was plenty left over, so you won't walk away hungry), pick up some fascinating history about Chicago's pizza industry, and probably meet some other great people. Lauren and Mark are fantastic tour guides, and very knowledgeable, not just about Chicago Pizza, but all aspects of the town's history. Strongly recommended for tourists and newcomers to town!

My wife and I visited Chicago from a small town in Michigan where there is no deep dish pizza. Rather than just sitting down at one restaurant and trying one Chicago style deep dish pizza, we were able to enjoy 3 different pizzerias within two hours. While other people at the restaurants had to wait for their pizza, our group had no waiting lines....We learned about the history of deep dish pizza, including the history of each restaurant. Lauren, our tour guide who did a great job, also pointed out other nightlife opportunities in the city, including a piano bar that we went to later that evening. The tour was perfect for us--we learned a little, had great pizza and just had a good time. I also don't walk all that well--just due to age, but the walk wasn't too far and I was able to manage the distance withouth any great discomfort, so I think it's a good tour for older people and kids too. The tour is really for people who enjoy being outside and just want to have a nice time.
