I subscribed to The Debrief's emails on the recommendation of journalists I respect(ed). I thought they had some pretty good articles on sex and interior design for cramped spaces (my primary interests in life, natch - and not dissimilar in theme), and stil...

A funny thing happened to me on the way to A&E
Actually that’s BS; all the funny stuff happened at A&E. That line was just to hook you in, dear fishy reader. Actually getting there was quite the opposite of funny. So yesterday morning I walked from Hove to Hanover to see my GP about a lumpy bruise on my...

"One day, libraries may themselves be consigned to fiction."
Terry Pratchett and Jorge Luis Borges may have been the prophets of the future library.

More jezebels giving feminism a bad name.

This is an awesome bit about tattoo culture, respect of tradition and art, and using feminism as a front to try to destroy those things without understanding what the hell you're doing.
This week blogger Jane Marie of Jezebel put tattooer Dan Bythewood “ON BLAST” for refusing to ink her neck. The reason Bythewood turned down the tattoo was because Marie is barely inked and so Bythewood was following the traditional tattoo honor... [ read more ]

Got the same bullshit over here in Sweden but replace gender with race. A non white beats up a security guard and gets arrested for it but starts screaming racism and other nonsense... People like that ruin the world for the rest of us. Whether it's race, gender, sexuality or any other difference.

It's an overly popular trend at the moment, and really... silly, like most of the trends. A lot of people without depression are getting them as well because it is now the popular thing to have.

Tattooist didn't carry out my design to instruction and refused to give me a refund when I pointed out that what was inked on me was not what I had specified. Very poor customer service, bad attitude when I was trying to politely point out the mistake and would not even negotiate a partial refund when I suggested it. Gentleman who had booked my appointment understood what I wanted but failed to communicate this to the artist who ended up doing the inking. When I attended my appointment they didn't seem sure of what I wanted or where I wanted it, despite having explained all this when I booked the appointment a week beforehand. Bad levels of hygiene too with people eating in the tattooing area, knocking into the chair as they were doing so. Enter at your own risk. Make sure that they know what it is you want. I wasn't trying to dispute the artist's knowledge and experience (as was implied by the lady in question), merely asking for a refund as that's what businesses are supposed to do when they haven't met standards required. This reasonable request was met with derision and aggression.
