Please ease into your weekend projects or activities instead of a jumping in headfirst, especially if you work behind a desk all week and don't routinely exercise. It is very easy for you to cause damage to your back by engaging in a physical activity too strenuous if you don't properly ease into it. We call this The Weekender, and it will do just that, end your week. http://ow.ly/K0fBs

Do you have any Do-It-Yourself weekend projects here in Mooresville or Huntersville or Cornelius, NC this weekend? Weekend projects can require hours of straining. This type of muscle strain isn't something that you normally do during the week so your body isn't use to it. This may damage areas of your back that are not accustomed to such a physical load. Home improvement projects can often be a cause of this.

Before tackling a large project by yourself ask a friend or family member to help. Also, use braces and supports to help shoulder the load.

Upper back pain may result from this behavior of The Weekender. Do this easy stretch to help relieve the tension.

Yoga Cat Stretch

Start by kneeling on all fours.
Exhale deeply and gently add a lower arch dip to your back.
Then inhale while you tighten your core muscles while arching your back upward.
Hold each position for around 5-10 seconds.
Repeat 10 times.

Our Signature massage is again a great idea for the stimulation of muscle recovery after engaging in weekend activities which lead you to suffer from pain of The Weekender. Click Here To Learn More: http://ow.ly/K6IrL

Another bad behavior associated with The Weekender is prolonged, unnatural positions. This is common with activities like gardening or landscaping. Bending over or looking down for hours will hurt your neck and back and we know that our Cornelius, Huntersville and Mooresville people of Lake Norman (and most people in NC) love their outdoor landscaping projects.

Be conscious of how you are positioning your body while you are engaging in your weekend activity. Also, don’t do any one activity constantly. Break it up by doing other things which require different positions.

You may find yourself with a stiff or aching neck due to prolonged bad posture of The Weekender. Just do this simple stretch to help ease the nagging pain.

Behind The Back Neck Stretch
Stand with your feet shoulder distance apart.
Reach both hands behind your lower back and grab your left wrist with your right hand.
Use your right hand to push your left arm away from your back.
Lower your right ear to your shoulder and hold for 30 seconds.
Switch sides and repeat.

Massage is a sure way to promote healing of your strained muscles from being a weekend warrior. Our Signature Massage is just what you need to get back on the road to recovery. Just click here to learn more: http://ow.ly/K6AmH

A Week Can Make You Weak But A Weekend Can Make You Weaker

Spending your weeks working at a desk or counter without regular exercise can make your body’s muscles weak.  So when you overdo it on a weekend project or activity you can really do some damage to your back.  This is called The Weekender, because it is you only physically exerting yourself only during the weekend.  Another phrase for this is the weekend warrior.

It is hardly ever a bad thing to be active, but you need to be careful about it if it isn't a regular routine for you because you can do more damage than good if you aren't careful.  We will spend the month telling you the best way to avoid The Weekender and how to heal from the damage caused by it.

Sometimes the weekend activity that can cause you pain is the very activity that you are doing to prevent pain, exercise. Exercise is always a good thing, but just like anything else, you have to slowly work into it. Don’t over extend your muscles with once a week yoga or Zumba or workout sessions in the Mooresville or Statesville, NC areas.

If you want to avoid problems, try to exercise more than just once a week. This way your body doesn’t have a chance to get soft. Also, don’t start out too strong. There is no shame in taking it easy in the beginning.

If you are hurting from exercise and stretching then doing more stretches may not always be a good idea. But there are low-impact stretches out there that can help loosen sore muscles like this one.

Knees To Chest Stretch
Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on floor.
Slowly bring your knees forward and grab your legs below the kneecap.
Hold for around 20 seconds and release.
Repeat this stretch several times.

For healing from this effect of The Weekender we recommend our Hot Stone Therapy. This therapy uses natural stones and heat or cold to soothe aching muscles. Just click here for more info: http://ow.ly/K7mNe

One characteristic of The Weekender is vigorous bursts of activity without proper warm-up.  Going from a cold start to an extreme level of activity can really do some damage to your back, legs and tendons.  This is common when playing weekend sports, projects, lake activities on Lake Norman or any other physical endeavor that you may find yourself partaking in around the Mooresville, NC area.

It is best to warm your body up with low impact exercise and stretches before jumping in the game.  Do some jumping jacks, push-ups or go for a short jog before you tag into the game and then find yourself quickly out of the game with an injury.

If you find yourself aching with lower back pain from ill-advised bursts of vigor then perform this stretch for temporary relief from the pain caused by being a victim of The Weekender.

Legs On Wall Stretch
Lay on your back.
Scoot your butt up against the wall with your legs up on the wall.
Hold for 5 to 10 minutes.

If you need to permanently heal caused by The Weekender then you need to book a Custom Deep Tissue Massage with us.  This massage is an intense experience that will loosen the inflamed tightened muscles and help get you back to sweet relief.  Just click here for more info on our Custom Deep Massage:

I had my very first facial today with Rhonda. I cannot speak highly enough of my first experience at Stonehaven. The entire staff is accomodating, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Rhonda was wonderful, and I left with with a great glow on my face, and I am still feeling energized from the experience this evening. The facility itself is extremely clean, tranquil and serene. Next visit, maybe a massage, or another facial and some reflexology. Take this to heart, Stonehaven Massage and Spa is not a cookie cutter, one size fits all operation. They care about every person as an individual, and can tailor your experience to meet your needs! They have a returning client in me for sure!

I visited Stonehaven massage for the first time today and loved it! Very professional, nice atmosphere and my facial was wonderful. As for the earlier review from a "Linda Cee", I hope Google will soon have the post removed. I spoke with the manager prior to my visit - and with friends who had recently been to the spa - and was assured that the claims were totally false. Sad that someone can post something so hurtful to a business and get away with it. I highly recommend Stonehaven.

I have been to Stonehaven on several occasions. My husband and I have the couples massage it was his first time and he couldn't wait to go back. I love the massages and facials. My last facial I had the chemical peel and love how it left my face feeling smooth and young again. The personal are always kinda, friendly and smiling. They make you feel right at home. I would and do highly recommend Stonehaven to my friends.

Stonehaven is beautiful. The rooms are relaxing and comfortable. I have had a few massages and microderm. My massages were great regardless of who was the therapist and my microderms were transforming. My skin look so good afterwards. I would recommend one at least once a month. The entire staff is friendly and accomodating.
