If you have #diabetes #mellitus, your body does not use and store sugar properly. High blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels in the retina, the nerve in the back of the eye that senses light and helps send images to the brain. #Diabetic #retinopathy is the leading cause of #blindness the United States. Diabetes can also affect vision by development of #cataracts, #glaucoma, #macular #edema and #retinaldetachment. People with diabetes should schedule examinations at least once a year. More often may be necessary after a diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy.

If you are suffering from #cataracts , we encourage you to contact our office. Call (719) 632-3547 or visit our website to schedule an appointment: http://www.cseyeclinic.com/contact-us/

The most common #cataract symptoms include:

- blurring vision
- sensitivity to light or glare
- double vision in one eye
- poor night vision
- needing brighter light to read
- experiencing fading or yellowing of colors

“My staff and I will take care of quite a few patients for cataract surgery in a given year,” Dr. Dewey states. “Our intent is to personalize the experience for the patient as much as possible, and balance this with the best level of efficiency we can attain. While some practices employ ‘surgical counselors’ or use videotapes, I feel these are much too impersonal. I do all of my own counseling regarding the surgery and even measure the patients for their implants myself. This way, I can be certain I’ve answered all the patients’ questions in general and identified to them how these things apply to their individual situation.”
