Good morning and Happy Tuesday from cool and rainy Vancouver. That's okay because Summer is returning tomorrow 😄

After the rain...
From the rose garden at Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver, earlier this Summer.

Epic Years is growing! Along with the growth, members are sharing interesting stories. If you grew up or live in a small town, you might enjoy this story about a small town newspaper and a crime report.

Some people use pictures to imply what is not true. A post is making the rounds showing half of the image and implying that it was caused by a lightning strike. It wasn't. Learn a little more at link https://www.epicyears.com/discussion/view/50072/implying-what-is-not

Epic Years is in its third official day. New groups are being formed and people are sharing ideas. Come join us as we build our social network for those 40 years and older. If you were a member of Eons, you'll may recognise some of the members there.

If you like sharing recipes, you might enjoy this group: https://www.epicyears.com/groups/profile/49373/lets-share-recipes

I posted in another group and got some feedback. I want to build a niche network. I don't know enough to build from scratch. I am still in contact with people from a now defunct website, and we've tried to find another place to play without much success. So I know there are people who are interested in what I have in mind, but I don't know how well I can put it together or how big it might grow if I'm successful. So, any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

I've played around a little with Drupal (Commons), Joomla (Community Builder), Buddypress (Wordpress), Elgg and Oxwall. I'm at the point I need to decide which way to go. I'm asking for opinions/advice from people who have used one or more of the programs. Is one a step ahead of the others in areas such as security, scalability and/or speed? Were there any major flaws or problems that you discovered that caused you to switch to something else? Do you have some other software you would recommend over these? Do you have any shortcuts or tips to share?

I know what I want to do, just don't know the best way to get there. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions or advice.

Good Idea!
#pay10forward - donating 1/10th of your post stream to charity

Many of us know the social media adage that only after you've given your followers 9 non-commercial or non-you posts have you "earned the right" to give them a sales post. Call this engagement if you want, or simply being a good network participant.

What if we all made a conscious effort to "donate" one of those 9 other posts to a charity/nonprofit that you believe in? That 1/10th of all posts are featuring the work or message of an organization doing good.

I hope you'll join me in this endeavor, using a hashtag of #pay10forward, and donate part of your stream to the charities of the world

Please share this with your stream and make a conscious effort to share that 10%
